So, the first week we started College.. It was pretty relaxed, just introducing us to the college and the church a bit.. Then the next two weeks are called intensives.. We have class three days straight from about 9am – 5pm with little breaks in between. It is a lot of information, all good, but just a lot of it. Also every morning we have chapel.. This is no, Simpson College chapel.. This is full on really creative fun exciting, heart-felt, powerful worship. The students who lead it are amazing, and have a real heart for God. We also get to hear from some amazing speakers from the church. These are not times to fall asleep or just check out, these are moments you really don’t want to miss.

hi Patrick,
this blog really hits me because I have felt the call to go to Hillsong College for about a year now and I have kept it in prayer for that long. Just recently my mom asked me if that was something I wanted to do (i had never shared my heart with her about the college, she brought it up) …tears came to my eyes cuz this is something I desired for a long while. She said she would be willing to sponsor with all of the funding if this is what I wanted to do… My full heart is to go. BUT the question arises with my Pastors at my local church. You see I am 28years old and have been leading worship for about 3 years. Worship leading is all I’ve ever wanted to do since high school. Right now I serve as a worship leader and youth leader in my local church. My Pastor stresses the point that “why would I go and learn to be a leader if I am doing it already” …I was wondering if you had any pointers, or if you could shed some light on the situation or if you knew anybody that attends the school right now with the same kind of situation. Are there many my age? Is there anybody attending that has been in leadership roles and has left their local church to attend the college? I have been frequently praying to God for answers. Your help with be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!

Hey Nichole,
I am so sorry I didn’t see your comment til now, sucks.. Well first off let me tell you that I am 31 years old and the picture you see at the very top of this page is me my wife and our two kids. We came out here while leaving our amazing church with amazing friends with the hope of coming back and furthering what is happening back home. I am currently on staff as the Creative Designer for our church, I do websites and graphic design for our church and also for a living.. I was also one of the worship leaders there too.
Now that you have a little background.. I would say one of the biggest reasons that I came out here to Hillsong is to just be a part of something bigger. I have been here a little over 6 months now and have really seen a lot and grown a lot. There is good teaching from the church, school, and from around the world. Being a part of the conferences that they host has been really challenging, and really powerful as well. The college is great for someone who really wants to learn the heart of what goes on at Hillsong, as well as further exploring what it means to worship and learn more about who we worship.
There are a lot of people here that you can talk to, and you can go here: http://www.facebook.com/hillsongcollege and just post interest and questions and people would love to help answer any other questions that you may have.
I hope that I wasn’t too late, and again I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.
Thanks.
Patrick.
